Hi Rick,
Thanks
for the email. The kids were happy to hear from you. They have a
few questions for you and somethings
they'd like you to know.
Did you have to drive in any snow?
We have March Madness Week here at
school. Today was Wacky Hair day so kids are lookin' pretty funny!
We
are studying the 3 R's in science. Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. Do you
use
any of those in your trucking?
Talk to you soon,
Mrs. Schroden and 2nd graders
Hello Mrs. Schroden and Class
As for driving in the snow I do drive
in the snow to a point. If the roads are getting slicker than I feel safe to
drive that is when I park it and wait for the weather to improve. I am one of
those drivers who really don’t want to push it too far if the roads are real slick. I have seen a lot of wrecked trucks
in the past several winters due to roads being real slick and drivers driving way too fast in the snow.
I do try to reuse and recycle as often as I can. Like for reducing, I have
done some things to my truck where I get better fuel mileage which reuses the amount of fuel I use. One thing I did was put a generator on my truck which will burn about a gallon of fuel in 10 hours versus
running the engine which uses a gallon of fuel an hour. Another thing that I
have done to my truck to save fuel was I put what’s a called a super single tire in the drive tire positions. That saved me about 400 pounds of weigh and having the one big tire instead of the set of duels saves the
rolling resistance which also saves fuel.
The ways I recycle, I reuse my paper
I use it multiple times that I use for getting load information and I also recycle my cans and bottles I use.
Science class was one of my favorite
subjects in school. My favorite Science teacher was one I had in the 10th grade
named Mr. Rudy. At times he could be real boring but if anyone started to nod
off in his class he threw erasers at them to wake them up. One day I remember
we decided to take the erasers and hide them and we nodded to each other and returned the erasers by tossing them back at
him. He got a big kick out of it.
Have a great day everyone
